Questions clients ask
Can you guarantee a Wikipedia page?
No. Wikipedia is independently edited, and article acceptance depends on Wikipedia's policies, sourcing and community review. LivinArab can assist with research, drafting, sourcing and submission support, but cannot guarantee acceptance.
Can you guarantee Wikipedia publication?
No. Publication, and whether an article stays published, is decided by Wikipedia's volunteer community under its own policies. Any article can later be edited, tagged or nominated for deletion. Anyone offering a guarantee is promising something they don't control.
What makes someone notable on Wikipedia?
The general standard is significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Significant means the sources discuss the subject directly and in detail, not a passing mention. There are also subject-specific guidelines for people, companies, academics, artists and other areas.
Do Arabic-language sources count?
Yes. Wikipedia accepts reliable sources in any language, including on English Wikipedia. What matters is that they are independent, reliable and discuss the subject in depth. We help identify, organize and, where needed, summarize Arabic sources for reviewers.
Can you help with Arabic Wikipedia?
Yes. Arabic Wikipedia has its own community and review practices. We assess sources and prepare material for Arabic Wikipedia separately, rather than simply translating an English article.
If I have an English article, will I get an Arabic one?
Not automatically. Each language edition decides independently. Existing coverage may support both, but each article must stand on its own sources and meet that community's standards.
Can press releases establish Wikipedia notability?
Generally, no. Press releases, sponsored or paid content, advertorials, company websites and social media are not independent of the subject. They cannot substitute for significant independent coverage.
Can you create a page for my company?
Only if the company meets Wikipedia's notability requirements for organizations, which are applied strictly. We start with an assessment of existing coverage. Promotional or marketing-style content is not appropriate on Wikipedia and is usually removed.
What happens if my existing Wikipedia article has problems?
We review the article against its sources and Wikipedia's policies: unsupported claims, weak citations, neutrality issues, promotional tone and maintenance tags. Where there is a conflict of interest, we follow Wikipedia's disclosure expectations, such as proposing changes on the article's talk page.
Can you remove negative information from Wikipedia?
Not simply because it is unfavorable. If material is inaccurate, unsourced, misrepresents its sources or gives undue weight to a minor issue, there are legitimate ways to raise that with the community, and we can help prepare a well-sourced, policy-based request.
Do you provide PR?
Yes. We offer media strategy, Arabic and English editorial outreach, press relations and thought-leadership support focused on genuine news value, not paid placements presented as journalism.
Do you guarantee media publication?
No. Editorial decisions belong to individual publications, their editors and journalists.
Are you affiliated with Wikipedia?
No. LivinArab is an independent consultancy and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Wikimedia Foundation or Wikipedia.
